Celebrating April in April with One of My Favorite Poses

Since it’s April (my month!), I wanted to share something near and dear to my heart—my favorite balance pose: Warrior III.
If you’ve been in class with me, you’ve probably heard me say this more than once: “Balance is fun!”
And I mean it.
Balance poses are some of my favorite moments on the mat because they help me slow the swirl of my mind and bring me right into the now. Warrior III, in particular, lights me up every time. Here’s why:
It takes your whole body to perform the pose. From your standing foot to your lifted heel, your core to your fingertips—everything has to work together. It’s a moving meditation in stillness.
I feel strong and powerful in this shape. There’s something about extending into space and feeling that long line of energy that makes me feel grounded, fierce, and free all at once.
It brings me into the present moment. The effort it takes to balance quiets my thoughts and focuses my attention like no other pose. It’s my go-to when I need to reconnect with myself.
